In the 1940 Census, it shows a Robert being a son of David's. However, he is not in any of the census records in prior years. It is possible that he is a grandson, but the son is a stretch as the last child was born in 1897, 17 years prior to Robert. Although possible, highly unlikely. The 1910 Census has John being born in 1855 Although the transcription of John's death certificate states November 1, 1912 I find it hard to believe that someone could actually see it because it is not readable where the day is. Normally I go with the death certificate over the tombstone, but in this case I am going with the tombstone because I highly doubt that they would wait almost 10 days to bury him. November 8th is more believable. Also, the death certificate states that he was buried in Fort Wayne, but this was most likely put there because he was removed from Waterloo to Fort Wayne where he was living. The children that were still living probably had him transported to Columbia City to bury him with his wife and their mother. | Gross, John (I24327)
